My Week That Was - A 30th

After a pretty terrible week last week (see my post on Survival), last week was a vast improvement, and was topped off with the celebration of John's 30th birthday. After planning his present for a few months, I was very excited to give it to him and was up early on Friday morning to give Holly her breakfast and cook John a birthday breakfast in bed! I think he was quite pleased with his pressie.
We had decided a family day out was in order, well we are getting on now so the days of partying are long gone. We took a trip down the M56 to Chester Zoo and had a great day. Fortunately the weather stayed fine and Holly loved seeing the animals, her favourites being the butterflies which is very fitting as her bedroom is covered in them!
In the evening John's parents came by to deliver his presents and share a take-out and a quick game of trivial pursuit. Holly decided what's Daddy's is hers and proceeded to open his presents!
Saturday was spent relaxing and tidying the house in preparation for Saturday night, where we visited a local pub, The Raven, along with several family and friends for a birthday meal. John was sufficiently mortified when the whole pub sang Happy Birthday to him! We all then headed back to our house for considerable drinking, bar me of course who was on the j2o's!
Today I was allowed a lie in as John awoke early, despite a late night, and got up with Holly for me. After a lazy morning, John head out to meet his besties for a few drinks. After departing at 1pm, I dread to think the state he will be in tonight when he returns. Fortunately I am staying with the in-laws so as to avoid having to look after a baby and a husband!
All in all a lovely weekend, and I would like to wish my hubby a very happy 30th!
